About the Authors

The authors of Somos Latinas are a diverse group of Latinas who have been involved in a wide range of social justice movements in Wisconsin. They include:

Marisol Berrios-Miranda is a community organizer and advocate for immigrant rights. She is the co-founder of Voces de la Frontera, a statewide immigrant rights organization.
Carmen De La Rosa is a community organizer and advocate for educational equity. She is the co-founder of the Latino Education Council of Wisconsin.
Dr. Erika López is an associate professor of gender and women's studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research focuses on the experiences of Latinas in the United States.
Dr. María Monreal-Cameron is the executive director of Voces de la Frontera. She is a nationally recognized leader in the fight for immigrant rights.
Ivelisse Reyes is a community organizer and advocate for environmental justice. She is the co-founder of the Milwaukee Environmental Justice Collaborative.
